Charges – Operation Evodia – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged a 38-year-old woman with drug offences in relation to alleged methamphetamine importation into Alice Springs from Melbourne.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said the woman had imported 156g of methamphetamine in three shipments.

She was intercepted by officers from the Southern Traffic Operations Division travelling to Alice Springs from Yulara on 8 April. A number of prohibited weapons were also discovered.

On 14 April the woman was arrested in Alice Springs by members of the Tactical Investigation Squad.

She was charged with:

  • Supply Methamphetamine – commercial (x2)
  • Possess Methamphetamine – commercial
  • Supply Methamphetamine – traffickable
  • Possess Methamphetamine – traffickable  
  • Administer Dangerous Drug to Self
  • Drive with Prohibited Drug in Blood
  • Drive unlicensed
  • Possess, Use, Carry a Prohibited Weapon
  • Unauthorised possession of Schedule 4 drug.

“NT Police has a zero tolerance for this type of offending,” Detective Senior Sergeant Malley said.

“If you sell drugs, Detectives will come knocking on your door – it’s only a matter of time.”

She was refused bail and will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates court today.
