Social Order Patrol Hub coming to Nightcliff Police Station

Police

Northern Territory Police Acting Deputy Commissioner, Jamie Chalker APM, this morning announced that Nightcliff Police Station will transition to a hub for social order patrols to service the Greater Darwin area.

Deputy Commissioner Chalker said the operational move will see General Duties Members based at the station and will focus primarily on public place patrol engagement activity across Darwin and Palmerston.

“Nightcliff residents will naturally see an increased operational presence over the coming months as the transition of the social order function takes place,” Mr Chalker said.

“Nightcliff will continue to be supported by operations from Casuarina Station and other stations as demand requires, further enhancing the service delivery to that area and surrounds.

“Traffic Operations will be moved from Nightcliff to Berrimah to enhance the road safety visibility and deployment across the greater Darwin, Palmerston and rural areas.

“Northern Territory Police will continue to be innovative and responsive to community needs and requirements. NT Police will continue to deploy resources to ensure the safety of our communities and strengthen the natural resilience of Territorians.”

The front counter of Nightcliff station will not be open to the public as the focus of the operational group will be public place engagement. The ‘assistance call’ at the front of the station will continue to be in use. General inquiries and licences will continue to be serviced from Stations in Darwin, Casuarina, Berrimah and Palmerston.
