Launch of New ‘NT Public Safety’ App Mobile

Police

Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services today launched its new ‘NT Public Safety’ mobile app’, which is available free of charge from the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

Developed by NTPFES and specialist contractors, the ‘NT Public Safety’ app is an information only application.

The app has been created to provide the Territory public faster access to a range of Police, Fire and Emergency services. Territorians can access important information relating to the Tri-services, especially emergency numbers, flood and cyclone preparedness, and safety and security tips from their mobile.

There are plans to rollout increased functionality – including anonymous reporting for Crime Stoppers and direct access to your local police station.

Emergency 000 calls initiated via the App are still made by your mobile phone and uses location services to direct users to their closest PFES shop front.

“NTPFES will continue to look for ways to improve our service delivery, especially in the increasingly important digital realm,” Director of the Northern Territory Emergency Service, Andrew Warton said.

“There has been a need for our services to be more mobile and accessible, this ‘one stop’ application will strengthen our presence online and with future expansions planned will become an important tool for keeping the public informed of their local issues.”
