Northern Territory Police have issued a 60-year-old man with a Notice to Appear after officers dismantled a large cannabis cultivation operation in Marrakai.

Drug and Organised Crime Detective Acting Superintendent Janelle Tonkin said officers carried out a search warrant at the property on Wednesday afternoon.

“On site, members discovered 80 cannabis plants in various stages of maturity under cultivation in large 40-litre tubs, recycled bath tubs and planter tubes,” she said.

“Police also seized 155g of processed cannabis and 226g of seeds.

“Police would like to thank members of the public who take the time to contact Crime Stoppers and report suspicious behaviour,” Detective A/Superintendent Tonkin said.

The man was issued a Notice to Appear for:

  • Cultivate commercial quantity cannabis
  • Possess commercial quantity seeds
  • Possess traffickable quantity cannabis material

He will appear on 16 June 2016.
