The Cross Border Team has arrested a 36-year-old man for an outstanding warrant in relation to an aggravated assault committed in Western Australia in February 2016.

Detective Sergeant Andy Bedwell of the Southern Investigation Division Cross Border Team said the offender was identified through Cross Border intelligence sharing relating to high risk domestic violence offences.

“Information shared suggested that the offender was residing in Alice Springs. Police located and arrested the man yesterday,” Detective Sergeant Bedwell said.

“This is another successful example of how the Cross Border Team is able to apprehend offenders who travel interstate in their efforts to evade Police. 

“Apprehending those who commit domestic violence continues to be a priority for the Northern Territory Police and the Cross Border Team.”

The man will appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.
