Northern Territory Police have arrested a 41-year-old woman following a traffic apprehension in Anula.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said drug detection dog Cougar provided a positive response to a Holden Crewman earlier today.

“Police will allege they located approximately 70 grams of methamphetamine in a handbag and $27,000 cash secreted in the vehicle,” he said.

“Subsequently, a warrant was executed at her residence where cannabis and drug paraphernalia was allegedly  located.

“Police believe the drugs were intended for supply to the community. The female was arrested and is assisting Police with their enquiries,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said.

She was remanded in Police custody and charged with:

  • Supply Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug – Commercial Quantity
  • Possession Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug – Commercial Quantity
  • Receive property – Commission of offence
  • Cultivate a Prohibited Plant
  • Possess Thing To Administer a Dangerous Drug

She will face Darwin Local Court tomorrow.

“We will continue to target those who seek to profit from the sale of these dangerous drugs, regardless of the time or place they wish to do their business,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said.
