Firearms seized Livingstone

Police

Police from Operation Autour have seized 11 firearms as a result of a licence check on a house in Livingstone.

Acting Sergeant Chantal Fischer from the Firearms and Policy Records Unit said gun owners have a responsibility to ensure licences are up to date and firearms are stored correctly.

“Attending Officers immediately notice unsecured firearms and ammunition in the house. Loaded firearms were also discovered,” she said.

“A 37-year-old male was found to have a revoked firearm licence and as a result 11 firearms and a large quantity of ammunition were seized.

“He was issued a notice to appear for licence breaches.

“He was also issued infringement notices for driving unlicensed and driving an unregistered vehicle.”

Acting Sergeant Fischer said the message from Operation Autour was simple.

“If you want to be a gun owner then you need to make sure you are meeting all the requirements, come and see us if you have any questions before we visit you.”

Officers also discovered several cannabis plants and Detectives from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad charged a 34-year-old female with cultivation and possession of a dangerous drug.
