A 35-year-old male will face the Alice Springs Local Court this morning following a house fire in Larapinta early Friday morning 8 July.

Detective Senior Constable Jamie Mawhinney from the Southern Serious Crime Squad said Police are requesting public assistance.

“Anyone who may have been in the area or saw this man in the late hours of Thursday 7 July or the early hours of 8 July in the Larapinta Town Camp is urged to contact Police on 131 444.

“Police will allege the man deliberately set fire to the residence while a 29-year-old woman was still in the house.

“She had to be rescued by family members and Police.”

Detective Senior Constable Mawhinney said the female was taken to Alice Springs Hospital for observation and the house sustained significant damage.
