Five Charged – Unlawful Entry and Rock Throwing – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged five males in relation to incidents of unlawful entry and rock throwing in Alice Springs.

Detective Acting Superintendent Peter Malley said Police will allege that four males – aged 38, 20, and two aged 17 – unlawfully entered a licensed premises on Schwarz Cres at about 10:00pm on Monday 11 July and stole a large quantity of alcohol.

“The offenders were identified and arrested a short time later, with further information identifying them as being involved in a rock throwing incident on Todd St on the same night,” he said.

The offenders were charged with:

  • Unlawful Entry (x7)
  • Damage to property (x9)
  • Stealing (x7)
  • Trespass (x5)
  • Receive stolen property

In a separate incident, a 13-year-old male youth has been charged for allegedly throwing rocks at a vehicle on Gregory Terrace.

“Police will allege that the youth – who was identified via CCTV – threw a rock at a vehicle, shattering the back window, while it was at a restaurant drive through,” Detective Acting Superintendent Malley said.

The 13-year-old male was charged with:

  • Recklessly endangering life
  • Damage to property

All offenders were remanded in Custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.

“Rock throwing is a dangerous act that can have fatal consequences, and will not be tolerated,” Detective Acting Superintendent Malley said.
