Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses to an assault in Nightcliff yesterday afternoon.
Detective Senior Sergeant Lee Morgan of the Major Crime Squad said emergency services were called to a disturbance on Casuarina Drive about 6pm.
“Upon arrival, Police found three people performing CPR. St Johns members arrived a short time later and transported the woman to hospital, where she later died.”
The incident occurred on a grassed area near the Aralia Street and Casuarina Drive junction.
Detective Senior Sergeant Morgan said a man is in custody, and are calling for witnesses to come forward.
“The area is popular for people out exercising, and it occurred at a time many people are in the area.
“Police are particularly seeking the assistance of a male and female aged in their 20s who stopped to speak to three females.
“The pair were asked if they had a phone. The female is described as athletic with fair hair, wearing shorts and a sports singlet. The man is also described as athletic about 170-180cm tall with dark hair.”
