A 65-year-old man has died, following a single motor vehicle crash on the Kakadu Highway yesterday.

Duty Superintendent Louise Jorgensen said Police were alerted to the crash that occurred 30km south of Jabiru just before 3:00pm.

“Unfortunately the driver passed away at the scene, his 59-year-old male passenger has been conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital with suspected spinal injuries. He is currently in a stable condition.

“Crash investigators will remain at the scene until later today. The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined and traffic diversions remain in place.

“Police would like to thank the members of the public who stopped to assist at this tragic incident.”

The Territory road toll now stands at 24.
