Call for Witnesses - Hit and Run

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses following a hit and run incident involving a Police Officer this afternoon.

Detective Superintendent Travis Wurst said just after midday a Detective was struck by a vehicle at a unit complex on Emery Avenue in Gray. The driver fled the scene and failed to render assistance.  

“A short time later, the driver of the vehicle handed himself into the Berrimah Police Station, however the vehicle involved, a maroon 2004 Mitsubishi Magna with possible NT registration 985 174, is still outstanding,” Detective Superintendent Wurst said.

“The driver is currently in custody and is assisting Police with their investigation.

“The Police Officer was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital. At this stage the extent of his injuries are not known.

“Police are urging anyone who may have seen the incident or have any information about the vehicle involved to call Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
