Alice Springs Police have charged a 21-year-old male following an assault on two police officers in Central Australia yesterday.

Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Akers said that the man allegedly assaulted two officers after they were called out to a disturbance at a remote community.

“Police allege the offender obstructed an officer from getting out of the vehicle, causing the door to strike the officer to his knee. Police also allege that while being restrained, the man punched another officer to the head,” he said.

The man has been charged with:

• Assault a member of the police force (x 2)

He will appear in the Mutitjulu Local Court on 28 September 2016.
