Police have spoken to a male this morning while attending an unrelated incident at Vesteys Beach.

Officers were in the process of taking him into protective custody when he has suffered what appeared to be a medical incident.

Police administered CPR until St John Ambulance attended and transported him to Royal Darwin Hospital.

The 45-year-old male has since died.

Police are investigating the death on behalf of the Coroner.
