Man Charged - Cannabis Seized

Northern Territory Police have charged a 30-year-old man following a large seizure of cannabis and cash.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Crispin Gargan from the Organised Crime Division said on Saturday 8 October, police apprehended a Nissan Navara on the Stuart Highway,  just outside the Katherine township.

“Police will allege they located 10 kilograms of cannabis, and $1500 in cash concealed in a plastic tool box. The driver was arrested and taken to Katherine watchhouse.

“Later that day, Police executed a search warrant at his Johnston residence. A further $10,000 was seized along with four firearms.”

“The estimated street value of the drugs is in excess of $100,000.”

He was charged with possession and supply of a commercial quantity of cannabis, he will appear in Katherine local court today.
