Charges – Assault and Stealing – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged an 18-year-old male in relation to an assault and unlawful entry in Alice Springs yesterday.

Detective Acting Superintendent Peter Malley said that the offender broke into a house about 8:15am Sunday morning.

“A 62-year-old female was alerted to an intruder in her home and went to investigate, she was confronted by the male and suffered serious injuries to her face requiring treatment at the Alice Springs Hospital,’ he said.

“The offender stole the victim’s vehicle, after fleeing the house.

“He was apprehended a short time later in the vehicle and arrested.”

He was charged with:

  • Enter a dwelling whilst armed with intent
  • Assault a female – offender a male
  • Damage to property
  • Stealing

He was remanded in custody to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.
