Man Charged – Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a 54-year-old man for on-selling liquor at town camps in Alice Springs yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Conan Robertson said that Police will allege they observed the man selling liquor in an Alcohol Protected Area.

“Police apprehended the man about 7:50pm yesterday and seized a quantity of alcohol, along with a machete and his vehicle, for bringing alcohol into a restricted area,” he said.

He was charged with:

  • Bring liquor into a restricted area
  • Possess carry use controlled weapon

He was issued a Notice to Appear in The Alice Springs Local Court.

“NT Police deploy considerable resources to protect vulnerable communities from the dangers of alcohol fuelled violence,” Senior Sergeant Conan Robertson said.

“Preventing liquor entering into alcohol restricted areas is a number one priority for Police, less alcohol equals safer communities.”
