Fatal Crash – Winnellie – Update #1

Police

Northern Territory Police are continuing to investigate a crash in which a cyclist was killed on New Year’s Eve.

The 46-year-old man died after being struck by a car on Winnellie Road just before 10:00pm last night.

A number of witnesses have assisted police to identify a vehicle of interest in the incident.  Police are now calling for information from the public who may have seen a blue Toyota Aurion with NT plates CB-31-FK being driven in Winnellie last night or who may have seen this vehicle since.

“It is understood that two men were in a vehicle at the time, and that they briefly stopped a short way past the scene before driving away.

“We continue to appeal for the driver and passenger in the vehicle to contact police,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said.

Anyone who can assist or has information is urged to call 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
