Northern Territory Police have charged an 18-year-old male over two separate incidents in Alice Springs.
Detective Superintendent Michael White says that the man allegedly assaulted his partner on New Year’s Day and then unlawfully entered a business on 3 January.
“On 1 January the offender allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old female while in a vehicle. On arrival at their residence, it is further alleged that he the man continued to assault her, causing minor injuries,” he said.
“At about 1:15am on 3 January, the offender allegedly broke into a business in North Side with two co-offenders and stole about $3000 worth of alcohol, cigarettes and food items.
“At 12:15pm on 5 January the offender was arrested by police and a small quantity of cannabis was found in his pocket.”
He was charged with:
- Aggravated assault
- Armed with offensive weapon
- Breach DVO
- Unlawful entry
- Stealing
- Damage property
- Possess cannabis
He was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.
