Northern Territory Police will request the extradition from NSW of a 20-year-old man arrested in Broken Hill last night.

The man absconded from the Alice Springs Correctional Centre on 23 December, 2016.

Superintendent Michael White said that the man was arrested by NSW Police who continue to search for two other males who fled the scene and alleged to be in the company of the man prior to his arrest.

A 16-year-old male was also arrested this morning and will appear in the Broken Hill Court today.

NT Police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance and information received since 23 December.
