Northern Territory Police have charged a 50-year-old woman after seizing a commercial quantity of cannabis in Alice Springs.

Detective Superintendent Michael White said Southern Drug Investigations and members from the Cross Border Team seized the cannabis on a flight from Adelaide yesterday.

“Police allege she was carrying 13 kilograms of cannabis in her luggage,” he said.

“A small quantity of methamphetamine was also found on her person.

“If sold on the streets of Alice Springs the cannabis had the potential to yield in excess of $150,000.”

She was charged with:

  • Supply cannabis – commercial quantity
  • Possess Schedule 1 substance

She was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.
