Criminal Damage - Palmerston

Police

Serious Crime Detectives are investigating damage caused to at least six electrical transformers in Gray and Moulden.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board said the transformers had all been deliberately vandalised overnight and early this morning.

“As a result of this damage, power was cut to several locations including Moulden Park Primary School and nearby neighbourhoods.

“Of concern to police, Power and Water personnel and Fire and Rescue officers is the damage has the possibility of causing a serious fire.

“These offenders are also taking a potentially deadly risk by damaging this infrastructure.

“We would also ask members of the public who witness these transformers being damaged or notice any that have been damaged, to not approach but call 000 as soon as possible.”

Anyone who may have noticed people tampering with these transformers is asked to contact police on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigations into these incidents are ongoing.
