Northern Territory Police have charged a 20-year-old man in relation to a hit-and-run in Katherine over the weekend.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Ian Young said a 39-year-old man was struck while crossing the Katherine Terrace at a pedestrian crossing about 12.30am Saturday.

The driver then allegedly fled the scene.

He was charged with:

• Hit and run – cause serious harm
• Not stop after crash
• Fail to give way to a pedestrian

He was bailed to appear in Katherine Local Court on 24 April.
