Organised Crime detectives have arrested two people and seized around 20 kilograms of cannabis at a Bees Creek residence.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said a 47-year-old male and a 47-year-old female were arrested following a search warrant.

“Detectives will allege they found approximately 900 grams of cannabis and $6065 cash in a vehicle before uncovering a further 18.5 kilograms and $171,000 cash in the residence.

“A small amount of MDMA, approximately 600 grams of a yet-to-be identified powder and a .22 calibre rifle were also seized,” he said.

“Four Toyota Landcruisers have been seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

“Police would like to thank members of the community who assisted with this investigation.”

The woman was charged with:

  • Possess and supply a commercial quantity of cannabis
  • Receive tainted property
  • Possess schedule one substance (MDMA)
  • Possess unlicensed / unregistered firearm
  • Failure to meet firearm storage requirements

The male was charged with the same plus a second charge of possess and supply a commercial quantity of cannabis.

Investigations are continuing.

They were remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Local Court on 23 March.
