Operation Jette Concludes

Police

An initiative by the Organised Crime Division targeting the trafficking of illicit substances through the mail has concluded.

Operation Jette, which ran for three months, resulted in the seizure of $340,000 of illicit drugs, 13 arrests and one notice to appear.

“The purchase of illicit drugs, particularly over the internet, has been increasingly more apparent and is of great concern to NT Police,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Crispin Gargan.

“These types of operations help detect and deter users and suppliers in our community.

“Those who thought they could make easy money buying drugs over the internet and then on-selling for a quick profit are now finding themselves before courts.

“We will continue to run these type of operations into the future.”
