Traffic Charges – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged a 29-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman following an incident in Alice Springs yesterday.

“The couple allegedly evaded police after being asked to pull over on Palm Circuit around 11am,” Sergeant Conan Roberston said.

“Both offenders took turns driving, until the car clipped a parked taxi and they ran from the vehicle.

“Police deployed the dog unit and the couple was located.”

The man was charged with:

  • Drive high range blood alcohol content
  • Drive a motor vehicle while disqualified
  • Fail to comply police officer’s direction
  • Driving a vehicle in a dangerous manner
  • Not stop or assist after crash

The woman was charged with:

  • Drive medium range blood alcohol content
  • Drive unlicensed
  • Drive dangerous manner
  • Fail to comply police officer’s direction

The man is due to appear in court today, the woman has a notice to appear in court 18 May.

“This form of drink driving is reckless and puts us all at risk,” Sergeant Robertson said.

“A fast and effective police response supported by the public ensured the apprehension of these dangerous offenders.”
