Charges – Assault Police – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged a 33-year-old male for allegedly assaulting a police officer in Alice Springs.

Superintendent Bradley Currie said that the incident occurred yesterday when police were attending a disturbance at a town camp in Braitling.

“A group of about 12 people approached the officers in an aggressive manner,” he said.

“The alleged offender assaulted a female officer when she was trying to restrain him.”

The man was charged with assault a member of the Police force and is due to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.

Two other men – aged 37 and 30 – were issued with Summary Infringement Notices for disorderly behaviour.
