Charges – Property Offences – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged a 16-year-old male in relation to a series of offences between 11-14 June.

Detective Sergeant Trent Abbott from Strike Force Winx said the youth allegedly entered a property on Hakea Court on 11 June, causing extensive damage to the residence.

“The offender allegedly stole about $24,000 worth of property, including a television,” he said.

“On 14 June, the offender, along with three others, unlawfully entered numerous vehicles at a business on Barret Drive and were observed fleeing into the Todd River.

“Later that same night the offenders were observed at another business on Barrett Drive, where they were disturbed by the manager while looking through vehicles. The offenders retaliated by throwing rocks in his direction.

“The 16-year-old was located and arrested on 23 June near the Todd Mall. He was allegedly carrying a 30cm knife at the time.

He was arrested and charged with:

  • Trespass (x4)
  • Stealing (x4)
  • Damage to property (x3)
  • Aggravated assault (x2)
  • Unlawful entry – dwelling
  • Armed with an offensive weapon
  • Possess controlled weapon

He will appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.
