Another young life has been lost following a fatal motor vehicle crash in Virginia overnight.

Acting Superintendent Matt Parsons said emergency personnel responded to the crash just after 11:00pm on Virginia Road.

“For reasons not yet known the driver, a 24-year-old male, has lost control of the vehicle and hit a culvert. He was ejected from the vehicle and tragically passed away at the scene.

“Early indications suggest that alcohol may have played a factor. It is also believed that the young man was not wearing a seatbelt.”

A file will be prepared for the coroner.

The Territory road toll now stands at 17.
