A 54-year-old man has died following a fatal vehicle crash on the Central Arnhem Highway.
“The crash occurred 228km south of Nhulunbuy just before 5:00am,” said Duty Superintendent Chris Board.
“A Land Cruiser station wagon has struck a buffalo and rolled. Six occupants were in the vehicle at the time. Tragically a male passenger died at the scene.
“The other five occupants were taken to Gapuwiyak clinic for treatment to various non-life threatening injuries, including broken bones. Some passengers are expected to be transported to Royal Darwin Hospital later today.
“The driver was breath tested at the scene and returned a negative reading.”
Investigations are ongoing. A file will be prepared for the coroner.
The Territory road toll now stands at 18.
