Charges – Stolen Vehicle – Palmerston

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a 37-year-old man after a vehicle was apprehended in Palmerston overnight.

Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Jordan from Strike Force Trident said the vehicle was stolen from a residence in Wanguri in June.

“The vehicle had been seen driving erratically over the past month throughout the Palmerston area,” he said.

“It was spotted by Strike Force Trident members about 11.30pm Thursday night on Chung Wah Terrace.

“A short pursuit followed, which ended when the stolen vehicle suffered a punctured tyre. The male refused to get out of the vehicle and became aggressive.

“He was then tasered and removed from the vehicle.”

A search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of methamphetamine and numerous deal bags.

He was charged with:

  • Unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • Drive dangerous during a pursuit
  • Recklessly endanger serious harm
  • Drug offences

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
