Northern Territory Police have charged two women in relation to the assault of a police officer in Alice Springs in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 22-year-old was charged with:

• Assault police
• Resist arrest
• Disorderly in a public place

She was bailed to appear in Alice Springs Local Court on 12 September.

The 21-year-old was charged with:

• Going armed in public
• Hinder police in the execution of duty

She was bailed to appear on 17 August.
