Northern Territory Police have charged a 58-year-old man with unlawful entry and stealing following an incident in Alice Springs yesterday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said that a business was unlawfully entered on Hartley Street about 1:30am.
“It is alleged the offender entered an art gallery and stole several rolled up canvasses,” he said.
“Unfortunately for the offender, the person he later attempted to sell the paintings to, was the gallery owner.
“He was arrested a short time later.”
He was charged with:
- Unlawful entry
- Stealing
- Property damage
He was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.
