Investigators from Strike Force Trident have charged a 39-year-old male with several serious offences following his arrest on 18 October.

Detective Senior Sergeant Robert Jordan said the male was arrested with the assistance of the Territory Response Group and two officers were injured during the apprehension.

“When police arrived at a rural residence on Cox Peninsular, the suspect attempted to flee in a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser utility.

“Police will allege his actions resulted in a crash with a police vehicle, causing injury to the two officers.”

The male was arrested at the scene and was charged overnight with:

  • Recklessly endangering life - aggravated
  • Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle x 3
  • Driving a vehicle in a dangerous manner
  • Resist police in the execution of duty
  • Drive motor vehicle whilst unlicensed
  • Possess stolen property x 2
  • Aggravated unlawful entry
  • Stealing x 2
  • Drive with prohibited drug in blood
  • Possess Schedule 1 drug x 2

He was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Local Court today.
