Northern Territory Police have charged a 17-year-old male for assault in Alice Springs.

Police allege the offender assaulted a 40-year-old woman, who was sitting in a vehicle outside a business on the Stuart Highway on Saturday night.

He was also charged with behave in a disorderly manner in a public place.

He was bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Youth Justice Court today.
