Arrests – Stolen Motor Vehicle – Darwin

Police

Northern Territory Police have arrested four teenagers in relation to a stolen vehicle.

Police allege the group gained access to a residence in Millner on New Year’s Eve and stole the keys to a white Mitsubishi Triton. This vehicle was then allegedly used to commit further property offences.

Yesterday police located the vehicle in Gray and engaged in a pursuit towards Darwin city and then the northern suburbs.

The vehicle was eventually apprehended in a shopping centre carpark and the offenders tried to run away and hide from police. Four were arrested at the scene.

A fifth offender remains outstanding.

Charges are yet to be laid.

“Property crime is usually opportunistic,” Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Jordan said.

“Residents can do their bit to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of property crime by making sure that vehicles are locked, that screen doors and windows are key-locked and that car keys are not left in obvious places in the house such as kitchen benches.”
