Youth Arrests - Alice Springs

Members of Strike Force Winx have arrested three youths in relation to a stolen motor vehicle.

Yesterday afternoon police located the vehicle in the Alice Springs CBD, the driver failed to stop and police were engaged in a short pursuit.

As a result, police were able to deploy a tyre deflation device (TDD) which caused the vehicle to receive three punctured tyres, the alleged offenders were arrested shortly after.

The youths have been interviewed by police and are expected to be charged later this afternoon.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said the use of the TDD is a successful resolution strategy in Alice Springs.

“In this instance, its use has allowed police to stop the vehicle, apprehend the alleged offenders and prevent them from committing further offences.”
