Police are investigating an incident in which two people were assaulted by a group of youths in Alice Springs overnight.

It will be alleged around 5pm two boys, aged 14 and 15-years-old were walking on Undoolya Road towards the CBD when a group of unknown youths have begun verbally abusing them.

The pair ignored the group and continued on to the Todd Mall where they were again confronted by the youths who ended up chasing and physically assaulting the boys.

A member of the public intervened and contacted police and the group fled the area. The boys received minor injuries and investigations into the incident continue.
