Northern Territory Police have charged a 23-year-old man with two counts of aggravated assault following an investigation into the death of a woman in Alice Springs last week.

It will be alleged the man physically assaulted two women at a town camp south of Alice Springs around 6:30pm on Thursday July 19.

One of the women was later found to have died under circumstances that appear unrelated to the assault.

The man has been remanded in custody to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court later today.

A file will be prepared for the Coroner by the Alice Springs Serious Crime Section in relation to the death of the woman.
