Investigators from Strike Force Trident are investigating the finding of a replica firearm.

During the execution of a search warrant, the faux Berretta 92 semi-automatic handgun was located concealed inside a vehicle.

Under the Weapons Control Act 2016, a replica or imitation firearm is a prohibited weapon and it is an offence to possess, use or carry one, unless an exemption under section 12 has been approved. An individual offender can face imprisonment for up to two years.

Enquiries into this particular matter are continuing.
