Single vehicle crash - Batchelor

Two men are in the Royal Darwin Hospital following a single vehicle rollover in Batchelor overnight.

Prior to midnight Police observed a silver Holden Commodore driving erratically in the area of Litchfield Park Road and Rum Jungle Road. Officers attempted a short pursuit, but terminated it soon after due to safety reasons.

Just after 1am Police, Fire and Rescue and Emergency Services received a report of a single vehicle rollover on Litchfield Park Road. Police confirmed the vehicle was the same vehicle observed driving erratically earlier in the evening.

The vehicle’s occupants, two men aged 17 and 18-years-old were extracted from the vehicle and transported to the Royal Darwin Hospital with serious injuries.

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating whether speed or alcohol were contributing factors to the cause of the crash.

As a result of the crash motorists are advised Litchfield Park Road is closed between Bevan Road and Rum Jungle Road, Litchfield Park while officers from Major Crash Investigators conduct scene investigations.

Road diversions are in place. Police will advise when road restrictions are lifted.

Police are calling for anyone who witnessed a silver Holden Commodore in the Batchelor/Litchfield Park Road areas prior to the crash throughout the evening, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
