Update – Fatal Crash – Kakadu Highway

Police

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Unit continue to investigate a fatal crash which occurred on the Kakadu Highway yesterday morning.

A 33-year-old woman and two males, aged 39 and 46, died at the scene. Another male, aged 45, passed away while on the way to hospital.

A 49-year-old female was the sole survivor of the crash. Following the crash, she walked from the scene and flagged down a passing motorist.

These tragic deaths bring the 2018 road toll to 42 compared to 23 this time last year.

Commander Tony Fuller said one death on Northern Territory roads is one too many.

“In the last week five Territorians did not make it home to their families. At this rate we will double the number of people killed on our roads last year.

“We urge all road users to take care. Enough is enough,” he said.

Police are still appealing for anyone who may have information about the crash or witnessed a silver Nissan X-Trail travelling along the Kakadu Highway after 8:30 pm on Thursday to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
