Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Unit are calling for witnesses following an alleged hit and run last Friday.

Around 11:30pm on Friday 2 November a male was struck by a vehicle on Bagot Road, Coconut Grove. The pedestrian was struck between the intersection of Osgood Drive and McMillans Road. It is believed he stepped out from the median island into the path of the oncoming vehicle.

The driver is alleged to have failed to render assistance to the pedestrian and left the scene. The driver made contact with police approximately five minutes later and requested an ambulance for the pedestrian.

The pedestrian remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The driver is assisting police with their enquiries.

Police ask anyone who may have sighted the incident or sighted a white Mitsubishi Lancer sedan around the time of the incident to contact police.
