Northern Territory Police are currently investigating the death of a man after a helicopter crashed in Central Australia today.

A second person is being transported to hospital in Alice Springs with critical injuries.

 It is believed there were no other occupants.

The crash occurred approximately 125 kilometres north east of Alice Springs around 9am this morning. 

Police will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
