Call for witnesses - Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses to an attempted robbery on Anzac Hill last weekend.

It is alleged at 10:00pm on Saturday, three people on top of Anzac Hill were approached by a man who threatened them with a knife and demanded money.

Fortunately another man intervened and took the knife from the offender, who was arrested by police at the base of Anzac Hill.

A 20-year-old man was charged with:
2 x Assault – intent to steal armed with weapon
1 X Carry/possess controlled weapon at nigh
1 x Make a threat to kill a person

He has been remanded in custody and will appear before court at a later date.

Prior to this incident, it is alleged the man was verbally abusive to a couple on Anzac Hill who then left the area prior to the attempted robbery.

Police believe they may have information that could assist with investigations and urge them to contact 131 444.
