Northern Territory Police are saddened by the news of another remote area fatal crash on Groote Eylandt.

Senior Sergeant Angela Stringer confirmed that a 25-year-old female was killed as a result of the crash and the other occupants have non-life threatening injuries.

"Being so close to Christmas this is such a tragic event. Incidents like this cause so much sadness in our communities for everyone involved."

Major Crash Investigators are travelling to the area and a full investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the crash.

The road toll sits at 50 compared with 31 at this time last year.
