Update 3 - Missing person - Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police continue to focus aerial and land searches on an area east of Alice Springs looking for missing German tourist, Monika Billen.

Further investigations and updated information provided to police has narrowed down the search parameter for the missing 62-year-old bushwalker.

“We’ve received information from witnesses that puts Monika in Emily Gap on the afternoon of January 1," said Superintendent Pauline Vicary

“As a result of this updated information we will continue to deploy land and aerial search assets to the north side of Emily Gap.

“However we continue to appeal to anyone who may have seen Monika in the area of Barrett Drive, Ross Highway, Emily Gap and Undoolya Road areas, to contact police and tell us.”

“Our members have been tirelessly searching Alice Springs for five days now and while it doesn’t look good, we do hold out hope to find her alive.”

Police urge anyone who may have seen Ms Billen or have any information as to her whereabouts to please contact them on 131 444.
