Call for witnesses - Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses to a large disturbance in which a man was knocked unconscious outside a licensed premises in Alice Springs at the weekend.

Around 1:30am on Sunday, an altercation involving a number of people, broke out outside a licensed premises on Gap Road.

The group continued onto the footpath at which point a man was knocked unconscious.

Police patrolling the area responded immediately and arrested a 22-year-old man, who fled the scene when police responded to a separate disturbance that broke out.

The 22-year-old man later presented to the Alice Springs Police Station where he was taken into custody.

He was bailed to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court on May 1 on the following offences;

  • Recklessly endanger likely to cause serious harm
  • Escape Custody
  • Engage in violent conduct

 

Two men were arrested in relation to a separate disturbance at the scene.

A 25-year-old man was charged with Hinder a member of the police force and Resist police in execution of duty, and a 21-year-old man was issued an infringement notice for Disorderly behaviour in a public place.
