Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to an alleged assault on a 11 year old girl in Nightcliff overnight.

The girl was at the Sunset Park playground on the Nightcliff foreshore at around 8.30 pm when she was approached and assaulted.

The offender is described as being of Aboriginal descent, between 150 to 170cms and of slim build. Police are also seeking to speak with anyone who may have photographs or video footage of the Sunset Park area that was obtained between 6pm to 8.30pm on Friday the 10th of May.

Additional police resources will be allocated to the Nightcliff foreshore area throughout the Sea Breeze festival. Anyone with information is urged to contact Police on 131444 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
