Northern Territory Police have charged a 34-year-old male following a short pursuit in Alpurrurulam.
Police were conducting patrols when they observed a vehicle with no registration plates travelling west along Awerr Awerr Road around 11:20pm on 26 July 2019. Police attempted to apprehend the vehicle however it failed to stop and a pursuit was commenced. The pursuit continued down a dirt road where the vehicle accelerated heavily before losing traction and coming to an abrupt stop.
Police searched the vehicle and seized a number of 4.4 litres casks of wine, beer and liquor. The vehicle was seized for grog running and the vehicle passengers were issued with liquor infringement notices.
The 34-year-old male was arrested and conveyed to Alpurrurulam Police Station where he was subjected to a breath analysis for alcohol which returned a result of 0.148. He was granted bail by the local court and is due to appear at the next Arlparra Court sittings.
